About. A Gallery is a collection of photo albums. This Gallery is available to all friends and family of Michigan Lutheran Seminary. There is no need to log in and you have all the school’s photos right at your fingertips. All you need is an Internet connection and this web address: http://gallery.mlsem.org/.

Albums. An album is a group of pictures and movies inside of a gallery. Albums can be nested inside of each other just as you can have folders inside each other in a file directory. An album's thumbnail is an example of the pictures stored inside it. The caption is a general title for all the pictures found within.

 Photos. Each photo is also represented by a thumbnail version of itself and a caption. To see the entire picture, click on the thumbnail. You will be shown the smallest view of the picture. Above the picture on the right is drop down box where you can choose the size of the image. Click the down arrow and a list of sizes will appear. The largest size shown is the actual size of the photo. Click on the size you wish to view and the photo size will automatically change.

 Navigation. There are several ways to navigate though the Gallery. The first way you have already tried and that is clicking on the thumbnails. You may also use the breadcrumb navigation that is found just above the search function on the left. This navigation shows you the path you have taken to get where you are. You may click on these links to quickly work your way back up to the root of the Gallery. On the left side of your screen, just above the Random Image is another helpful way to navigate. It shows you the parent album of the object you are currently viewing. It also lists other objects in that same parent album.

 Slideshows. Visitors can view the pictures as either a slideshow inside of the browser window or as a full screen slideshow. The links for the slideshows are on the left under the search function.

 Downloads. Visitors also have the ability to download a ZIP file full of photos and movies. You choose the photo you wish to download by adding them to a cart. There is a link directly under the photo’s thumbnail or a link on the left side of the page, right under the search function. When you are ready to download the pictures, go to your cart. On the right side of the page there is a drop down box for cart actions. Choose “download in ZIP” and then click “Go”. A box will appear with the option to Open or Save to Disk. Choose “Save to Disk”. You will have to unzip the file to retrieve the photos and movies.

 Search. The search function at this time is not very dependable. Each image will be given a title and keywords associated with it. This will be a huge undertaking but when finished it will make the search function very helpful.
